Bloomfield Back-to-School Backpack Drive

Duncaster was a proud sponsor of Save Our Schools for Our Kids Foundation’s back-to-school backpack drive for Bloomfield students. In the fall of last year, Duncaster residents and staff gathered in the parking lot of the Blue Hills Fire Department to help Bloomfield school children prepare for success in the classroom by handing out free backpacks filled with school supplies.

The well-attended, free community event was organized with help from Duncaster Board Member Yvonne Renée Davis who did an expert job reaching out to the community to spread the word, while simultaneously mobilizing the sponsors and volunteers needed to make the event a success. The result was a fun, four-hour festival designed to get families and students excited about academic achievement.

The event also featured raffle giveaways for kids and adults, two live DJs, a delicious cookout, and a dance contest. At the end of the evening, all were invited to take home a free chicken donated by Purdue. Team Duncaster did a terrific job keeping up with the growing line of eager attendees.
